About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Bejijng Layover

Hi,
We are travelling to the Philippines from the UK and have a 8hr layover in Bejing. We were hoping to go into the city to have a look around for a few hours. Do we apply for the 24hr Visa when we get to Bejing, or is it possible to do it beforehand to speed up the process when we arrive?

Thanks,
Siena

You don't need a visa to transit Beijing, and "24hr Visa" does not exist anyway. You can apply for a (free) temporary entry permit when you arrive at Beijing, but that may or may not be granted for a connection of 8 hours. If you want to apply beforehand, then your only option is a Chinese visa at a cost of GBP151.
