No, you don't need any kind of visa because you will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. Now, I don't know whether you are traveling on a single (through) or separate tickets, but you are fine in any case.

You will print out your flight tickets and have the printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in Montréal that you are traveling to Delhi via Shanghai using 24 hour visa free transit. You will immediately present your flight tickets and after a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon arrival in Shanghai, if you are flying on a single (through) ticket, you will just remain within the transit area after some of the formalities. Anyway, if you are traveling on separate tickets, you will approach to 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to collect your luggage and to recheck for your onward flight. This is also quite simple. You will basically tell the same as you have in Montréal and you will also present your tickets and your passport. You will be allowed to collect your luggage and to recheck for your flight to Delhi.

Basically, this is it and the most important detail is, you really don't need any kind of visa. You will just appear at the check-in and do as above mentioned.
