About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Entering Beijing from Jeddah via Dubai

Hi,

We are traveling for a job interview however the flight as it stands that the company booked are:
Jeddah to Dubai
Dubai to Beijing
Beijing to Dubai
Dubai to Jeddah
All booked with the same airline
Will this allow us to get a 72 hour transit or will our return flight need to take a different route ?

Unfortunately, your actual itinerary is not eligible for any kind of visa free transit option because of the segment:

Dubai - Beijing - Dubai

As you can see by yourself, this is not a transit, but just a simple round trip flight. If you retain this itinerary you will need a visa obtained in advance or you will change your flights.

For example, the easiest option would be something like this:

Jeddah - Dubai - Beijing
Beijing - Hong Kong - Dubai - Jeddah

By introducing Hong Kong or some other third country, your itinerary becomes eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. Please, have in mind that 72 hour visa free transit has been replaced in Beijing by 144 hour visa free transit a couple of years ago.
