Australian citizens can enjoy 144 hour visa free transit upon arrival in Shanghai, under the condition that your flight from Shanghai does not have any additional landing of any kind within mainland China and in Japan.

Malaysian citizens can rely only on 24 hour visa free transit. In other words, they have to calculate carefully because the mentioned 24 hours start at the time of the scheduled docking, until the scheduled plane departure. In other words, if the docking is at 10:00, then the latest flight a Malaysian citizen can take is at 09:59. All scheduled times!
