About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

HONG KONG-SHANGHAI-MILAN

Hello,
if I fly to Milan to Hong Kong (arriving Hong Kong at 11:35 am on the 31st Oct). The flight has a stop in Beijing of 2 hours (there is not direct flight).
and from Hong kong take a flight to Shanghai on the 31st Oct at 6:30 pm and leave Shanghai on the 2nd Nov at 1:55 am

is this doable with a 72 hours free visa entrance?

Yes, this is absolutely fine.

Your first stop, in Beijing, will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you start your new eligible itinerary from Hong Kong.

This second stop in Shanghai will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit because 72 hour visa free transit has been replaced in Shanghai by 144 hour visa free transit a couple of year ago.

Please, have in mind that your flight out of Shanghai is not allowed to have any additional landing within mainland China and in Hong Kong!
