About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

3 nights in Beijin and 3 nights in Shanghai = 144 hrs... can i visit both places from UK?

I would like to spend a total of 6 days in China (3 in Beijin and 3 in Shanghai) - Flight 1 - From UK to Beijin, Flight 2 - Beijin to Shanghai, Flight 3 - Shanghai to London. Is this possible with the 144 hrs restrictions?

No, this plan is a complete non-starter unless you get a visa. It fails on at least two counts. First, 144 hours transit without visa allows transit in Beijing or Shanghai, but not both. If you transit in both you are automatically limited to 24 hours. Second, you must be in transit to a third country to travel without a visa. UK-China-UK is a visit to China and not a transit and therefore requires a visa.
