About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong to Shanghai to Korea

My friends and I want to fly from Hong Kong to Shanghai and stay for 3 days, then fly from Shanghai to Korea. Is the 72 hours applicable? If not, are there any alternatives we could take to be able to be eligible for it? ( like fly to Shanghai first then leave to Hong Kong maybe?)

Hong Kong-Shanghai-Korea is an eligible route. You must be travelling on an eligible passport for 144 hours transit without visa (72 hours has been replaced by 144 for a long time now).
