About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I will fly into Hong Kong and would like to visit Shenzhen before departing again from Hong Kong.

Can I get a visa-free entry for (48 or) or preferably 72 hours at the Shenzhen border?

No, you cannot use a visa free transit scheme for that. Instead, you are advised to use 5 day Shenzhen visa on arrival that you will obtain at, preferably, Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing. This is very simple procedure and the price for German citizens is 168 CNY. You are advised to bring this amount in Chinese cash that you can obtain at one of many Hong Kong money changers, to bring your passport size photo and preferably a confirmation of your accommodation in Shenzhen.

You will easily reach Lo Wu by Hong Kong train, shortly walk to Luohu and then proceed to the center of Shenzhen by metro. You can return to Hong Kong by any mean of transport you wish, including the high speed train.
