About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24-hour visa-free permit: i will go to China in November 2019 using a multiple entry business visa

Hi,
I'm an Italian traveling to Bali via Shanghai Airport from London, with a 10 h and 17 h transit for my flights. Can I leave the airport to visit the city if I apply for a 24-hour visa-free transit and how long it takes the process? Can i apply for both the travels?

thank you for letting me know

Mery

Yes, you can apply for temporary entry permit upon your landing in Shanghai. Please, keep in mind to have your flight tickets printed out and ready to be presented to relevant authorities. After you fill out the form and hand it over at the relevant 24 hour TWOV counter, there will be a short check and after that there are just a few minutes after you will be allowed to exit the airport.

Anyway, you should be aware that the issuing of temporary entry permit is always upon discretion of immigration authorities on the day of your arrival in Shanghai. During your longer layover, you are advised to book your accommodation in advance and to have a confirmation of the booking with you in hard copy.
