About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Technical Stop

Hallo,
I'm travelling from Frankfurt, Germany to Phnom Phen with a stopover in Guangzhou. There is an additional technical stop on the way from Frankfurt to Guangzhou in Changsha. Same on my flight back. The transit time in China would be under 24h. What kind of visa do I need?

If you have calculated your entire transit time in China in the proper way, you don't need any kind of visa because you will be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit.

The only correct way how to calculate your entire transit time in China is from your first scheduled landing, in your case in Changsha, until your last scheduled departure, in your case from Guangzhou. So, if the entire transit time, calculated in this way is less than 24 hours, you are definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit.

You should print out your flight tickets and have those printouts with you. Also, you will state in Frankfurt at check-in that you will travel to Phnom Penh via China using 24 hour visa free transit. Your tickets will be shortly inspected and you will be allowed to travel visa free.
