You don't need any kind of visa because your itinerary is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit.

I assume that you will use CZ360 for your route Delhi - Guangzhou...

So, if I'm right, your situation is perfectly eligible for complete visa free travel through China because your entire transit time in China will be less than 24 hours.

You should print out your flight tickets and have the printouts with you. Also, you will declare at check-in in Delhi that you will travel to San Francisco via China using 24 hour visa free transit. After a short inspection of your tickets, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your arrival in Guangzhou, you will apply for temporary entry permit at 24 hour TWOV counter. After you are granted one and this will be a formality in your case, you will be allowed to proceed on the first leg of CZ659 flight to Wuhan and then to San Francisco.
