About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I fly into Guangzhou and out of Shenzhen on a transit visa?

I have an NZ passport (on the list of 53). My journey is Osaka > Frankfurt via China (just 3 hour transit outbound).
On the way back, I have 24 hours in Guangzhou, and will visit a customer there, but actually I now have a reason to visit Shenzhen as well. It would be difficult to both of these things in one day, so I'm thinking it might be worth missing the Guangzhou - Osaka leg, and book a separate flight out of Shenzhen instead. Is that doable?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, your intention is doable and perfectly legal.

During your first stop in China, your transit will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you will probably stay within the transit area in case if you travel on a single (through) ticket.

During your second stop in China, you will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in the entire Guangdong province. In other words, you should just take care that the time between your two flights is longer than 24 hours.

So, your final itinerary will be:

Europe - Guangzhou - Shenzhen - X country (different than mainland China and the European country from where will you come to Guangzhou)

Please, keep in mind that your flights Europe - Guangzhou and Shenzhen - X country are not allowed to have any additional landing within mainland China. Also, you should print out your e-tickets and have the printouts with you.
