About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit
I am stopping in Shanghai for four hours and 20 minutes, do I need to apply for any visas?

It all depends on your flight itinerary. If you fly from a country A to Shanghai (China - country B) and proceed after Shanghai to a country C, you will be definitely covered by 24 hour visa free transit and consequently you don't need a visa of any kind. Anyway, if you return to the same country from where you have departed to Shanghai, then a visa is a must.0
