Connecting flight at Shanghai Pudong Airport

We have a stopover at Pudong from England to Auckland with China Eastern. Do we have to collect luggage and check it in for the connective flight or will this be done automatically?

If the both flights are China Eastern, then you don't need to collect the luggage and recheck it. :)
