About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Traveling within Hong Kong to Pekín

I’m a us citizen wanting to fly from Dallas to Hong Kong then catch a flight to Peking to catch a cruise. Can I do that.

Yes, you can definitely do that, but you should keep in mind the following two conditions:

- Your flight from Hong Kong to Beijing has to be a nonstop one, i.e. without any additional landing within mainland China beside, of course, Beijing
- Your cruise should not have its first port of call, immediately after Tianjin (Beijing), in mainland China

If the above conditions are fulfilled, you are definitely eligible for 24 or 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area. Whether you will be eligible for 24 or 144 hour visa free transit depends on the length of your planned stay in Beijing area.
