No as long as you don't have another stop in China before and after Shanghai.

And you must not have another stop in Hong Kong before Shanghai.

Hello Thomas and Saul, thank you for your answers. Can you tell me if the BRU-SHA-HKG flights must be from one single airline? Or does it not matter? And can I leave HKG immediately (meaning is there a requirement for how long I must stay in City C? Thank you.

Separate tickets and different carriers are fine. You don't need to clear immigration in Hong Kong, or even leave the aircraft, as long as your plane touches down.

Thank you for your help, Saul. I actually took the liberty to also call the Shanghai immigration station number above. Thanks a lot for that. The gentleman on the other end was very clear and helpful (although he spoke Mandarin). So thanks for posting those important numbers.
