About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hotel booking without Chinese visa

I am planning to get a room in Beijing Liujiayao Subway Station. This hotel is stating I need an actual visa when Agoda (hotel booking site) contacted them, I did insist that the phone agent asks the hotel about the 144 hour transit without visa to which he said 'it is the same policy sir, you need a visa'

but when my friend who lives in Beijing contacted them, they said the US Passport and ID along with the stamp from Beijing Airport, should be sufficient enough. I have no way to check this information online nor is this hotel answering their phone.

Is a China tourist visa required for me to stay in an hotel or is my US Passport with airport immigration stamps plus state driver license sufficient enough for the hotel?

i appreciate any help, Thank you!

Well some hotels in Beijing denied guests with an 144h temporary permit to stay overnight.

Nobody can give you an proper answer hereas it's up to the hotel.

btw. I don't know what do you want with an US state driver license in China, nobody cares about that as it's not valid.
