About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Ticket versus itinerary

Hi.
I am still nervous about actual ticket and seat number requirement by Chinese customs for flight from Shanghai to Hanoi. I arrive in Shanghai from Vancouver and want to use the 144 visa free transit before going to Hanoi. For Hanoi, you cannot get your actual ticket until 24 hours prior to boarding. Is a paper itinerary confirmation from airline okay? Also, do the flights have to be interlined - meaning the airlines must be the same or at least partnered like star alliance?

The thing you get 24 hours before your flight is a boarding pass, not a ticket. You simply need to print your eticket confirmation showing the long ticket number. Separate tickets and different carriers are fine. Thousands of people do this every year, it’s nothing to worry about.
