About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Im Vietnamese fly from SGN to SFO layover at Guangzhou (15 hours) and Wuhan (2 hours)

I called the Southern airlines in HochiMinh. They made sure I can't get 24 hours visa free transit. Because I have to check -in back at Guangzhou. I do not know, please give me the best advise. Thank you.

Calling the airline will always result in getting exactly the answer you have received. They are more or less useless for this type of questions, trust me. I assume that your flights are CZ374 + CZ659. If I'm right, your entire transit time in mainland China will be just around 20 hours, so you are perfectly eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you are also perfectly fine to change your flights in Guangzhou. Of course, you will have to do that, but you will just apply for 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing in Guangzhou, you will present your flight tickets in hard copy and you will be definitely granted a permit because you have to collect your luggage and also to perform new check-in. Also, you can book your accommodation in advance because your layover will be during the night hours, but you are also fine if you choose to wait for your connecting flight at the airport.

Please, don't listen to the uninformed representatives because the experience has shown that they are quite ignorant about the visa free transit rules of mainland China. The first people that know about this rules, you will encounter at the airport in HCMC. Even some of them will have to consult Timatic, but at least they know where to look for a reliable information.
