transit visa in urumqi technical stop

Question

Hi there,I will flight from Vienna to Bangkok with China Southern airlines.  I have a technical stop in Urumqi for 2 hours. After I will continue to Guangzhou airport where I have 1 hour to transfer the other aircraft heading to Bangkok. My question is if i need the Chinese transit visa for technical stop in Urumqi. Somewhere I read that I need that, somewhere that I do not need the visa. I have Czech republic passport.Thanks

If your route is Vienna-Urumqi-Guangzhou-Bangkok, then you need to apply for a China visa in advance.

Hi,thank you for your answer. Yesterday evening I've got a message from airlines, that our flight was change. We have only one transfer in Guangzhou. So it is Vienna - Guangzhou - Bangkok. And way back is Bangkok - Urumqi - Vienna. I would like to ask you if I need the visa in this case?Thank you,Ondrej

What is your nationality? Generally speaking, you are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit so you don't need to apply for a visa.
