Cruise ship visiting Xiamen

I have US passport. I have booked a tour with the cruise ship while in port.
Do I have to get a China Visa?

Thank you for your response to my question.
These are the cruise ports: Kagoshima, Japan—— Xiamen —-Da Nang/Hue(Chan May), Vietnam.
If I do not need a visa, I would appreciate your input in what I have to do to enter China.

Tour itinerary is as follows:
Ferry boat to Gulangyu Island, Shuzhuang Garden, Walk through Dragon Head Street back to ferry terminal, Take ferry boat back to Xiamen, back to cruise ship

Walter, we need to know two details:

1. Where will be your ports of call immediately before and after Xiamen. For example, in this format:

Hong Kong - Xiamen - Busan

2. Where will the mentioned tour take you. Please, this is also very important detail because your tour destination will tell us whether you will need a visa or not.

Your itinerary:

Kagoshima - Xiamen - Da Nang

Is perfectly eligible for 24/144 visa free transit in Xiamen and you don't need any kind of visa. Simply speaking, your itinerary is fine example of transit through China.
