About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Beijing to Shanghai to Hong Kong

Can I fly in from the United states to Beijing and stay for 72 hours and then fly to Shanghai from Beijing for another 72 hours, then fly from Shanghai to Hong Kong?

You need to rearrange your flights.
USA > Shanghai > Hong Kong > Beijing > USA then it will work
