About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong

Hi, I am flying Zurich, Beijing, Hong Kong and have a 15 hrs layover in Beijing.

Does the 24hr TWOV cover this itinerary? Are there any things to take into account with Hong Kong being a special administrative region?

Thanks
Gareth

There is really nothing special regarding the fact that Hong Kong is SAR. In reality you will do the following steps:

- You will declare at Zurich check-in that you will travel to Hong Kong via mainland China. You will present them your tickets that should be in hard copy (e-ticket printouts)
- You will be allowed to board the plane
- You will apply for 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing in Beijing to be allowed to exit the airport and make a stroll in the city. Of course, this detail is even more important in case if you have separate tickets and have to collect your luggage and perform new check-in. Also, in case if you intend to sleep in Beijing, you are advised to book your accommodation in advance and to bring a booking confirmation with you in hard copy
- After your layover, you will board your plane for Hong Kong

This is it.
