About:Shanghai 15-day Visa-free Policy for Cruise Tour Groups

I'm an Australian, arriving in Shanghai on the Celebrity Millennium Cruise ship on the 26/10

Hello,
I hope you can help me. And flying out to Singapore on the 28/10. I have booked a city tour of Shanghai with the cruise company who have advised that I qualify for the 15 day visa waiver program and therefore do not need a visa. I have since read that you only qualify for that visa if you are leaving the country on the same ship. Could you please advise if I need to apply for a visa. I also read about the 144 hour visa free transit, would I qualify for that and how do I apply for it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Your itinerary is eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area and you will not need a visa of any kind. Your itinerary (the part that interests Chinese immigration authorities) is:

Seoul (your last port of call outside China) - Shanghai - Singapore

The only detail you should take care of is that you flight from Shanghai to Singapore does not have any additional landing within mainland China and South Korea.

You should have your flight ticket from Shanghai to Singapore in hard copy. The reason is simple. Upon your docking in Shanghai, you will apply for 144 hour free entry permit and there you will present your onward ticket to Singapore. After a short inspection, you will get a sticker in your passport and you will be allowed to leave the terminal and to explore the city and its surroundings.

This is it. Quite simple.
