About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

12hr Transit VISA in Shanghai

I have a 12hr layover in Shanghai from Philippines to USA. Can I have my bags checked through to final destination and still leave the airport on transit visa? The airline is fine doing that but I read other post stating they were denied exit for not clearing luggage.

Ken, I heard that if your layover is less than 8 hours, the immigration won't let you leave the airport. As your layover is beyond 8 hours, you do have a chance to leave airport. However, it's decided by the immigration officer. If you have a hard copy of hotel reservation, it may help.
