About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Round trip ticket combinations?

I have a round-trip ticket from the US to Shanghai and a separate round-trip ticket from Shanghai to Japan. Flight order is US-Shanghai, stay 5 days, Shanghai-Japan, stay 4 days, Japan-Shanghai, stay 5 hours, and Shanghai-US. Can I use two transit visas for this?

Your entire itinerary is definitely eligible for visa free transit in Shanghai twice. Please, just have in mind to use correct terminology because you will not use any kind of visas, but visa free transit scheme.

During your first arrival in Shanghai, you will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit because your stay will be longer than 24 hours and during your second arrival, you will be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit because you will have just 5 hours of your stay in Shanghai.
