About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Chicago- Shanghai to The Philippines

I have a Filipino passport and will be traveling back to the Philippines from Chicago and will have a 10 hour layover in China. I just need to confirm if i am eligible for a 24 hr visa free transit. I plan on booking a hotel while im waiting for my flight to the Phil.

Thank you for the reply this helps a lot. Also i did my research and read that there is a hotel inside the airport so this may just be the route that ill do as a 10 hour layover is totally draining.

Chicago - Shanghai - Philippines is definitely an eligible itinerary for 24 hour visa free transit. So, you can really fly visa free.

I understand that you intend to exit the airport and for that reason you will apply for 24 hour free entry permit upon your landing in Shanghai. You should have your flight tickets in hard copy along with your accommodation booking confirmation in hard copy. Anyway, you are now warned that the issuing of entry permit is not the passenger's right, but it entirely depends on discretion decision of Chinese immigration official on the day of your arrival in Shanghai.
