About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Filipina Travelling from Canada to Cebu

Hi,

Im planning to booked a ticket from expedia , multi city, Canada-Shanghai-Cebu. I will arrive Shanghai Friday 4PM then leave Saturday at 4:55pm. It's 24 hours and 55 mins, but Im from Canada although a Filipina, am i entitled with 72 visa free right?

Hi Zupan,

Oh I see, I thought they will consider the place of origin and not the nationality.

Anyways, Thank you at least I'm know in advance before I arrived in Shanghai and be stuck in the airport for 24 hours.

If your connection is a minute over 24 hours and you don’t have a visa, you won’t get as far as Shanghai because the airline will refuse your boarding in Canada.

If you are a Philippine citizen, you cannot enjoy 144 hours visa free transit in Shanghai (72 hour was replaced with 144 hour a couple of years ago). Unfortunately, you will have to obtain a Chinese transit (G) visa in advance at relevant CVASC in Canada.
