Single entry x2 visa

Hi all
I will be studying in China for several months and understand that it is common to only receive a single entry visa when studying for fewer than 6 months (I will be studying for longer than this, but will move institutions so cannot apply immediately for a longer one annoyingly).

Based on the above, am I correct in thinking that if I need to leave China during the initial period, I have to reapply and pay for a new visa to re-enter the country, despite studying under the same conditions? Is there a way to get "permission" to leave for a short time without ending the visa?

Thanks

Dear, you can try to apply for a double-entry X2 and see if the embassy will grant you this. If not, you have to apply for a new X2 after exiting from China in order to re-enter the country. That's just the rule.
