About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Two British Citizens transiting in Beijing

Hello,

I hope you can me some ideas. We will be flying from London to Melbourne via Beijing. Our flight arrives at 6:30 am on 30th November and our Melbourne flight leaves at 00:40 am 1st December so our layover is about 18 hours.

I think we need to apply for 24 transit visa free? We will book a city tour to see the Great Wall and other attractions. We might also book a hotel room close to the airport to freshen up before our departure which is after midnight.

I would like to know if we have a change to get 24 visa free permit to leave the airport.

Your situation is very simple. Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit, this is the most important detail.

Now, since you will have quite a long layover and you also plan to book a city tour, everything you need is to have the printouts of your flight tickets and a confirmation for the tour in hard copy. With the mentioned documents you will apply for 24 hour free entry permit (this is not a visa, this is an entry permit) upon your landing at the relevant counter. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to exit the airport and to join your tour.

Basically, this is it. Quite simple.
