About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Malaysian transit in Shanghai to Glasgow

I am a Malaysian travelling to Glasgow on two separate airline tickets which will change in Shanghai. My tickets as follows:

Kuala Lumpur - Shanghai (Air Asia)

Shanghai - Dubai - Glasgow (Emirates)

Do I need to apply for a transit visa before flying or am I entitled to the 24hr free visa?

Abdul, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit in Shanghai, but you should take care that your transit time in Shanghai is less than 24 hours. I assume that your transit is indeed less than 24 hours if you have a combination of D7330 and EK303 flights. Exactly, your entire transit time will be 23 hours and 45 minutes. If I'm right, this is absolutely fine.

By the way, you should be using correct terminology to avoid any possible misunderstandings. It is 24 hour visa free transit and not "24hr free visa" because there is no visa at all.
