About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Non U.S Citizen

Hello,
My family booked a cruise to Japan, the ship is docked in Shanghai. My sister is a permanent resident of the U.S. but a citizen of Vietnam. Is she eligible for the 144 Hour Visa Free transit? Our plan is to fly to directly to Shanghai from U.S. and stay for 2 days before boarding the cruise ship.

thank you,

Unfortunately, she is not eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, so she needs a Chinese visa obtained in advance for every transit longer than 24 hours. Simply speaking, Vietnamese citizenship is not eligible for this visa free transit scheme.
