About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Is Hong Kong considered part of mainland China? Can I have the 144 hour visa flying via Hong Kong ?

I am trying to book Sydney to Bejing, but it transits in Hong Kong. I think this is ok and I will qualify for the 144 transit visa on arrival. Do you agree?

Alternatively we currently have Sydney to Beijing via a brief stop in Hangzhou, which I see means we will NOT qualify for the 144 hour transit on arrival visa. Do you agree?

Hong Kong is considered a third country for immigration purposes. But you didn’t tell us where you will go after Beijing. This is the most vital piece of information. You must fly Country A - one stop in China - Country B to qualify for visa-free transit. It’s not a visa on arrival.

Thanks for your comments. I will try and change by flights to go to Beijing via Hong Kong this week.
If I can not change, and I come to Beijing from Sydney via the brief stop in Hangzhou (90 mins to change planes) , then I will need a Visa which I will the local embassy. I guess this is still a transit visa as it's only 4 days. Or do you know would I need a one or two entry tourist visa? Thank you.
I am now going to try and book one of your tours :-)

Ive changed flights, so its now Sydney to Hong Kong (2 hour transit) to Beijing (4 day transit) to London. So I understand that means 144 hour visa on arrival is ok in Beijing? Thanks so much.

Yes it's fine as long as that HK - London is not on Cathay Pacific back through Hong Kong again.
