Does a British passport need a Visa for 5 days?

I like to know if I need a Visa to visit China for 5 days maximum. Going there from Hong Kong and going back from Shenzhen by bus or train?
I have a work permit in Brunei where I am now .

Medhat, if you take a flight from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, and then travel within Guangdong province, then travel to a third country, you can use the 144h visa-free transit.

If you mean to travel from HK to Shenzhen and back to HK, you may apply for a Shenzhen visa on arrival, but this only allows you to travel in Shenzhen.
