About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Cruise ship arrival from Singapore Transfer to shanghai Airport and fly home to the USA need a visa?

We are taking a 30 day cruise (Holland America) originating in Singapore. We will be making numerous ports of call including two stops in Taiwan and 1 stop in Hong Kong. Our final stop is Shanghai (port of Wusongkou) upon which we will board immediate transit to the Shahghai Airport for our flight home to the USA. The ship arrives a:t 800 AM and our flight leaves China at 1:15pm, five hours ,15 minutes later. We have no plans to stay in China. Are we covered by any of the Visa free transit offerings or do we need a visa. We can't get a clear answer from anyone on this.

OK, this is a cruise called 30-Day Far East Discovery, Taiwan & Japan Collector on Westerdam ship. Your last port of call before Shanghai is in Japan and you will stay in Shanghai less than 24 hours in transit between your cruise and the plane departure. All the above data tells us that you are perfectly eligible for 24 hour visa free transit in Shanghai. There is just one condition that has to be fulfilled. Your flight from Shanghai to US should not have any additional landing within mainland China and Japan.
