Free visa for cruise passengers

Hello to whom we concern ...
We are coming to Beijing from Cheju City, South Korea by Cruise for three days Mar-22-2020 to Mar-24-2020 and Cruise to Seoul, South Korea .. Until Mar-28-2020 Cruise back to Shanghai in the early morning ...
We already had booked flight back to Lax at night in the same day.... We are using US passport so my question is do we need visa for get in Beijing or we can use 144 hours visa free waiver....

Dear, as you arrive in Beijing from South Korea and then leave for South Korea, I'm afraid you are not covered by the 144 h visa-free transit, so you need to prepare a visa for it. For the layover in Shanghai, you are eligible.
