About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I use the 144 hour Visa Free Transit flying to Beijing and leaving Tianjin Port

I am a UK citizen, flying in to Beijing Airport, landing on 5th October 19 mid-afternoon and will stay in Beijing for two nights (Sat/Sun) transferring down to Tianjin Port on the morning of Monday 7th October to pick up a Royal Caribbean cruise ship that departs that afternoon. Can I use the 144 hour Visa Free Transit flying to Beijing and leaving Tianjin Port? Cruise is 12 nights and also visits, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam and finishes in Singapore.

if the Tianjin Port is the last place you stay in China, you are eligible for the 144-hour visa-free transit.

Hi Ruth
We are on that cruise as well. Not sure if this true or not, but have spoken to Emirates and they say that you have to arrive and depart from the same city.
But looking on the Internet it says that you can move freely around the Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei areas.
Also have spoken to RC and they say you can board with the 144 hour visa..

Go on to the IATA website visa and health fill in the details of your trip but where it asks destination don't put China put Japan as you are transiting through China.

Ruth, your itinerary is definitely and undoubtedly eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.

Your first port of call after Tianjin is Fukuoka, so you have fulfilled all conditions that could be required from a person to be eligible for this visa free transit option.

By the way, 144 hour visa free transit scheme allows you to freely move within the cities of Beijing and Tianjin and the province of Hebei. This area is roughly the size of England, but noticeably more populated :)
