24 hours Transit visa overstays leading to travel ban

Hi,

I missed one of my flight while transiting through China in 2018, which resulted in 2-days overstay. I was traveling again through China in 2019 but they did not allow me to go through. They told me that this is due to the fact that I overstayed in 2018. However, they did not tell me when this ban ends.

How may I know about this transit ban? How many years of ban my passport has? Or how can I remove the ban and continue to travel through China? Also, I have a small business company in the USA and I may need to visit China frequently for business purpose. How can I resolve this travel ban issue?

Thanks
Arif

Overstaying your entry permit while in transit will come with a 5-year visa-free transit ban from the day the offense is recorded. This in theory will not affect your visa application given that the ban only applies to visa-free transit and not visa issuance. If you want to transit China in the future then the only way is to get a 10-year visa (both business and tourist visas will work).

By the way there's no way to remove the ban, given that your face as well as your fingerprints are in the database. Using a new passport won't help either. If you can get a 10-year business or tourist visa, however, you don't have to worry about the ban.
