About:Shanghai 15-day Visa-free Policy for Cruise Tour Groups

Flight UK to Shanghai, cruise out of Shanghai to include S Korea, return to China and end in Tokyo

Hi. Planning trip, flight UK to SH with overnight stay (possible two nights), then cruise out of SH, day at sea, first stop in Seoul, day at sea again, then return to China (Beijing for three days, 2 nights) after this stops in S Korea and Japan, cruise ends and flight back to UK from Tokyo. Is this itinerary acceptable for the 15 days visa free policy? Thank you

In case that your cruise has the following itinerary:

SH - Seoul - Beijing - South Korea - Japan

Then, you cannot be eligible for any kind of visa free transit schemes because the segment:

Seoul (South Korea) - Beijing - South Korea is not a transit, but a return trip or better to say a visit to China.

Your first stop in China, in SH is eligible because it is a good example of transit:

UK - SH - South Korea

As you can see a single entry Chinese tourist (L) visa is required for your itinerary, although I would suggest you to obtain a long-term, multiple-entry Chinese visa because it is the same price as a single entry and you will do that by telling to relevant CVASC that you intend to travel to China more often.
