About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

48 Hour Layover in Shanghai

I am flying from Colombo, Sri Lanka into Shanghai and have a 48hour layover then flying to the United States. Does this qualify for the 72hr visa free transit and can I apply for this ahead of time?

Linda, if you don't have any other landings in mainland China, you qualify for the 144hr visa-free transit in Shanghai. You don't need to apply for it in advance actually.
