About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is a layover considered a 3rd country?

Thanks for this clear description of the transit visas! If I do a round trip SG-Shangai with two different stopovers, e.g. SG-[Taipei]-Shangai-[Seoul]-SG, would that be considered a 3rd country? In this scenario I have 1 reservation with two tickets, one Singapore-Shangai via Taipei (imagine a 2h layover), one Shangai-Singapore via Seoul (again, short layover).

Would that work out for the 72/144h visa?
