About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

NRT-ICN-PVG; PVG-NRT-YVR

Hi, I'm a Canadian passport holder.
Do I qualify for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai if my itinerary is as follows:
NRT (Tokyo, Japan) -> connecting to ICN (Seoul, Korea) -> PVG, on Asiana, all in one day;
PVG -> connecting to NRT -> YVR (Canada), on Japan Airlines, all in one day.

My worry is that I'm coming from Japan, but with a few hours transit in Korea, and leaving to Japan to go to Canada.
Would I be deemed as coming from Korea, and leaving to Japan?
Thank you for your response.

Country immediately before and after is what matters, the landing in Seoul even if you don't leave the airport makes your itinerary qualify for the visa free transit in China.
