About:Visa on Arrival

I cam from Paris to Shenzhen - Transiting Visa

I have a transiting Visa from Paris to SZ, then I had to book a flight to Hanoi and back so that I was transiting out of SZ to another city ( not HK) because other wise I would not be granted a five day visa to SZ.

I have now got said visa - do I really need to go to Hanoi?

Hi Zupan,

I'm worried that If I go to Hanoi and the return to Shenzhen so I can fly back to Paris on Friday that I will still be in breach of the 144 hour visa free rule. I do not want to breach the law. I do not want to break it. Hainan airlines together with immigration told me this was OK. But it seems that I am putting myself directly in the position of coming back to SZ and going home to Paris on Friday. It seems very strange that I have to fly to Hanoi and back over night so I can go back to Paris on Friday am. I am worried that its not clear. Is this still okay?

Thank you

Susan, according to your question, I assume that you have obtained 144 hour visa free transit scheme and now you are in Shenzhen. Right?

So, if I'm right, you really have to go to Hanoi on exactly that flight that you have presented to the Chinese authorities. All other options are just a breach of law and the consequences could be, mildly speaking, unpleasant.

By the way you are suggested to use correct terminology because this is 144 hour visa free transit. So, there is no visa at all.

If I have misunderstood a portion or the whole entirety of your question, I would like to hear from you to give you correct directions.

Yes, it is OK. It is legal and even more than that, it is compulsory that you leave Shenzhen with your flight to Hanoi. You have received your 144 hour visa free transit by presenting your onward ticket to Hanoi. So, you really have to take that flight and according to the law, you are allowed to return to Shenzhen immediately after your plane touch down the tarmac in Hanoi. Upon arrival in Shenzhen you will be also eligible for 24 or 144 hour visa free transit and you will just proceed with your flight to Paris.

This is the only legitimate option you have at your disposal. Please, do that and you will be on the right side of the law. Otherwise, you will find yourself in the problem because you are not allowed to return to the point of your original destination because that would not be a transit.
