Leigh, you will have to print out all your flight tickets and your cruise ticket and have them in hard copy. You will declare at the check-in in Dallas that you will use visa free transit in Beijing and present them your tickets that will support your statement. Here I have a problem to determine your eligibility because you failed to mention your cruise itinerary. OK, I will present the following conditions and you will easily see by yourself whether you are eligible for visa free transit in Beijing:
- Your flight from Dallas to Beijing should not have any additional landing in mainland China and the country where you will have your first port call
- Your cruise should not have its first port call, immediately after Tianjin, in mainland China
- Your cruise should not have its last port call, immediately before Tianjin, in mainland China
- Your flight from Beijing to US should not have any additional landing in mainland China and the country where you will have your last port call, immediately before your arrival in Tianjin.
If the above conditions are fulfilled, you are eligible for visa free transit twice. Now, whether you will be eligible for 24 or 144 hour visa free transit depends on the time you will spend in Beijing between flight and cruise and cruise and flight. You will easily calculate the mentioned times by taking only scheduled arrivals and scheduled departures. If less than 24 hours - 24 hour visa free transit and if more than 24 hours - 144 hour visa free transit.
