About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

2 days transit in Shanghai on my route from Paris-CDG to Sydney (Australia)

Hi, We understand that, based on above, we are eligible (family but all above 18yo) for this 144h visa free entry into Shanghai area ? Is this correct taking account that new rules have entered into force mid-July regarding normal Visa for China ! Have these recent rules changes impacted also the 144h visa free principle ? If not, do you know how much time it takes to get this visa at the entrance in Shanghai-Pudong (fast enough (< 1h) or many waiting hours ??). Thanks

So, if your itinerary is:

Paris - Shanghai - Sydney

And you are all of French citizenship wishing to stay for 2 days in Shanghai and you don't have any more unreported stops en route, you are perfectly eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai.

All you have to bring are your flight tickets in hard copy, preferably your accommodation booking and you will fill out a blue form at the 144 hour counter at Shanghai airport upon your landing there. The procedure is usually noticeably shorter than 1 hour.

So, I would strongly advice you to use this scheme instead of conventional visa because with just 2 days in China, this option could be considered as a gift.
