About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Bangkok to Peking to LAX

2 US citizens - we are flying from the US to Vietnam, then to BKK. On the way back, we fly back from BKK to Peking, stay for 1.5 days and fly back to the US. Would we qualify for the transit visa?

Yes, you are eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, but your itinerary has to fulfill the following conditions:

- Your flight from Bangkok to Beijing should not have any additional landing within mainland China
- Your flight from Beijing to US should not have any additional landing within mainland China and in the country/territory where your flight Bangkok - Beijing maybe had a stop en route, for example in Hong Kong.

If your itinerary fulfills the above mentioned conditions, you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit. Please, have in mind to use correct terminology because you will not travel on any kind of "transit visa" or similar, but visa free... So, there is no visa at all.
