About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

is stop over sufficient for transit visa

Hi , I will be staying in Shanghai for 5 days only. Arriving from Amsterdam, and flying back to Amsterdam. An A > B > A trip = officially requires a visa.
However, if I would book a stop over flight, say via Taipei TW, or Singapore, : am I then eligible for the 144-hours transit visa? I mean, the trip then would be A (Taipei) > B (Shanghai) > C (Amsterdam). I have a Dutch passport.

It doesn't matter how long you stay in the third (or first) country. You can have separate tickets, but you must actually fly the itinerary that you use to claim 144 hours transit without visa (which is not a "transit visa" by the way).
