San francisco-Beijing Beijing - hong kong

Hi. Canadian Passport flying USA-Beijing staying Beijing 4 days then different airline and ticket Beijing-Hong Kong but stops 2 hours in Shangai. Is this acceptable? Im worry now after reading the rules.
