About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

With our itenerary, are my wife and I eligible to take advantage of the 144 Visa Free entry?

We arrive on May 2, 2019 at 0400 hrs in Shanghai aboard the Sapphire Princess cruise ship. We have confirmed reservations to spend the night of May 2nd in the Longemont Hotel. We have confirmed airline tickets from Shanghai Pu Dong International airport departing at 6:25 PM May 3rd on American Airlines Flight 182.

We visit Hong Kong during the cruise itinerary. With that in mind (another Chinese city/region), do we still qualify to use the 144 visa exemption rule?

Yes. Hong Kong is considered a third country for immigration and customs purposes.

Yes since your scheduled stop is longer than 24 hours and less than 144 hours (6 days) you do not need a visa. This is assuming Shanghai is the only Chinese port the boat will visit.
