About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

London -Hong Kong-Shenzhen-Hong Kong-London

Dear sir/madam,
Im travelling for business to China with arrival in Hong Kong. The day after arrival i need to go to Dong Guan but my Chinese visa expired. If I flight from Hong Kong to Guangdong province, and then return to Hong Kong by train to get my flight back to London from Hong Kong airport, would this be eligible to 144 hours visa free transit?
Thank you for your answer

Actually, not. Anyway, you need just a small creative detail within your itinerary to be eligible and that detail is called Macau. So, your eligible itinerary should look like this:

Hong Kong - Guangzhou (by plane)
Guangzhou - Shenzhen (by train)
Shenzhen - Macau (by ferry)
Macau - Hong Kong (by ferry or by bus)

As you can see, it is definitely necessary that you introduce the third country (in this case the third territory) so that your itinerary has a real transit shape:

Hong Kong - mainland China - Macau

If you have some additional questions, just don't hesitate to ask.

One more detail, you will have to book a ferry ticket before your departure from Hong Kong.
